Goals, OKRs & portfolios
ActionConnect connects day-to-day work to the outcomes it drives. Goals (OKR-style) and portfolios give leadership a roll-up view of progress without anyone updating a status report by hand.
Goals and OKRs
A goal is an outcome you are working toward. Goals can nest into a hierarchy (a parent objective with child key results), so you can model OKRs directly.
Each goal carries:
- a status —
on_track,at_risk,off_track, ordone, - a progress value (0–100%) that rolls up from the work linked to it, and
- optional start and due dates and an owner.
Linking work to goals
Link the work that drives a goal — projects, tasks, or epics — and ActionConnect computes the goal's progress from those links. Each link can carry a weight, so a goal can be a weighted blend of several initiatives. As the linked work completes, the goal's progress moves automatically.
This is the key idea: you do not report progress, you link work, and progress is derived from the real state of that work.
Portfolios
A portfolio groups related projects so leaders can see a whole program in one place. Use portfolios to organize by product line, department, or strategic theme, and to review the health of many projects together.
Tips
- Model objectives as parent goals and key results as their children.
- Link epics and projects to goals so progress reflects delivery, not optimism.
- Use weights when some initiatives matter more to a goal than others.
- Group projects into portfolios for program-level reviews.
